Here’s how Spare a Rose makes a difference
Brandon is an intelligent and driven young man. He is just about to graduate as a dentist and has the world at his feet.
Things could have turned out very differently. A delayed diabetes diagnosis and lack of access to insulin nearly took his life.
Thanks to campaigns like Spare a Rose, Life for a Child was able to help provide Brandon with the insulin, supplies and diabetes education he needed.
Brandon wants to continue fighting the stigma around diabetes and be an ambassador for change in his community.

What is Spare a Rose?
Initiated by a group of members from the Diabetes Online Community, the Spare a Rose campaign raises funds for the Life for a Child program. The first campaign took place in 2013 and every year since the community has come together to make a difference in the lives of children living with diabetes in less-resourced countries.
Spare a Rose attracts many smaller donations which, together equal thousands of dollars, showing the impact even the smallest donation can have.

What is the Life for a Child Program?
In some under-resourced countries young people living with type 1 diabetes are unable to access life-saving insulin, blood glucose testing tools and diabetes education.
Life for a Child partners with diabetes centres in countries like Rwanda, Mexico and India to provide these critical supplies to young people who would otherwise have nowhere else to turn. The program currently supports over 19,000 young people in 42 countries.
There is so much work still to be done but together we can achieve our vision that: no child should die of diabetes.
